Women and Football

Sometimes I wonder if women will ever have a nationally known tackle football league. It is safe to say that anything is possible. With existing stereotypes of women being known as the weaker sex, I believe that it is possible for women to play tackle football. There are a few all-girls tackle football leagues that exist already, but will it ever go so far to become a part of entertainment? I have always been interested in football but it sparked even more when I started going to an all-girls High School. My senior year I participated in a Flag Football class where I was able to learn more about the sport as well as how to play. It was a very fun experience for me and my classmates and we even had a tournament. My teacher always talked about how women having knowledge of football is attracted to guys and impresses them. But for me, it wasn't about making an impression. I feel as if women's participation in football is a way of empowerment. It is nice for guys to know that you have a knowledge in a men's sport, but it would be empowering for a women to know that they have equal treatment within the sports industry. In the majority of sports, if not all, women get paid less than men whether they have a higher winning streak then men or not. Even though society has come a long way with women's rights, it still has progress to make.
