Reaction to Jay-Z: The Story of O.J Music Video

Before watching Jay-Z's music video, I had heard the song but never knew how much more profound the message would be by watching the video. The lyrics tell a lot about history and present time, but the visuals tell the story. When I think of music videos, I never thought about them carrying such emotion. I have always seen the music videos with dancers or violence but it was not until I saw Jay-Z's music video that I though maybe I should look deeper into the meaning of some songs. This video in particular has such a great impact on the views of society in the past and present. I think that everyone should be open to watching and understanding the message of the video.

Although it is a very sensitive video that could also be offensive, the message would not be as profound without the use of explicit language and images. Recently, there have been many celebrities standing up against racial discrimination and it has caused a lot of controversy. Jay-Z happens to be an artist among celebrities that has been able to tell a story through not only his music but also visuals.
