My High Point Experience Thus Far

Moving to North Carolina from Maryland was a difficult decision to make because it separated me from my family and friends. Coming from a very family-oriented household, I did not know what to expect after making this tough transition. Both my brother and sister decided to stay within 1-2 hours from home but I chose to go 5 hours away. My parents were very excited for me to go away because they want me to get the full college experience without the urge of coming home every weekend. I am happy that I made the choice of coming to High Point because I have already made a lot of friends and I enjoy all of my classes. Even though I miss all of my friends and family, I am lucky to have been able to visit with them twice already.

I chose to come to High Point University because of its amazing networking abilities and it felt like home. Even though I am not used to the environment at HPU, I have easily adjusted to the campus. During my Freshman year, I hope to figure out exactly what I would like to study and the career path that I will aim for in the future. With all the resources that High Point provides, I know that I will be able to figure out what is best for me. As a Freshman, I also want to take advantage of all of opportunities to be a part of clubs and figure out what I am most interested in. I look forward to all that is to come!
